Here's the concept map I created of the Management of an Ankle Injury. I really liked the ease and simplicity of Inspiration to design it, I only wish I was more adept at it. Oh well, I guess that's why we're doing this. It'll come with practice.
Probably my favortite aspect of this app is how it lets me see everything in my head in front of me displayed in something other than just words on a page. I'm a pretty visual person, and seeing them in a clear, mapped-out representation just clicks with me and I would guess quite a few other people. Sometimes I get so much information on a topic that it becomes hard for me to explain or relay it to others, or to put it in the proper order for myself.
Athletic training (and athletic training education) is pretty much predicated on performing the right steps in the right order. Injuries are sent through prescribed care progressions, rehab sessions are as well (although they are more like recommended protocols than specific, step-by-step "cookbook" instructions). It's nice to represent all of the protocols and their alternative off-shoots with a diagram.
As a future educator, this is a great simplifier for me. It gives a set plan for teaching a topic that allows me to move step by step through it. It's practically idiot proof (which I think helps me out a lot).
Hi I'm not sure if you still use this blog but I was interested in seeing your concept map but the link is not working anymore. Thanks!
